What is PharmaGenecare?

OneDNA Pharmagenecare analyses your genetic makeup to assess how your body responds to 170+ drugs across 13 key therapy areas including cardiology, oncology, neurology, psychiatry, and more. It helps personalize treatment, reduce side effects, and improve overall drug safety and effectiveness.

How Does It Work?

Pharmagenecare evaluates a person's DNA to determine how they may metabolize or respond to medications, helping guide healthcare providers in selecting appropriate drugs and dosing. Two types of genes are studied:
  • 1. Pharmacodynamic genes: Produce proteins that influence how a medication acts on the body.
  • 2. Pharmacokinetic genes: Produce proteins that affect how the body absorbs, distributes, metabolizes, and eliminates medications.
The test requires a simple, non-invasive sample collection, typically using a buccal (cheek) swab, where a soft swab is gently rubbed inside the cheek to collect cells.

Who can consider testing?

  • 1. Patients who are on multiple medications.
  • 2. Patients who have experienced unexpected side effects.
  • 3. Cancer patients before starting chemotherapy or targeted therapy.
  • 4. Patients with psychiatric conditions being prescribed antidepressants or antipsychotics.

The test helps guide medication choices by showing how your body may process certain drugs, but final decisions should always be made by your doctor based on your overall health.

Yes. In fact, the test can be particularly useful in understanding how your current medications may be working for you.

This is a one time test. Your genetic makeup does not change, so the results remain relevant for life.
